The Village
Badecon Le Pin is a pretty village close to the river Creuse. It has a bar, post office, butcher, baker/general store, hairdresser, church and infant school.
The Area
The department of Indre (36) is in the middle of France and is in the region Centre, and its borders with the Limousin. The nearest city is
Chateauroux and town
Argenton sur Creuse. This is a mainly agricultural area and has many forests and lakes. This is also part of the ancient region of
Berry.
Amenities
Argenton sur Creuse which is 10 minutes by car has a main line station, three supermarkets, and two large DIY stores. There are doctors, vets, banks, chemists and a secondary school. There is also a market on Saturday mornings.
Chateauroux which is 36kms has a general hospital, all the usual large stores and supermarkets mainly in zones around the edge of the city. It also has exhibition halls, and the centre of the city has many small streets with boutiques etc.
Access
Badecon Le Pin is very easy to get to and there are a range of alternatives:
By Car with
Eurotunnel or
Ferry via Paris. Motorway for most of the journey.
By Train form Argenton Station (10 minutes by car) to Paris (approx. 2½ hrs.) and the
Eurostar to London (approx. 2½ hrs).
By Plane from
Limoges Airport (approx. 40mins by car) to; Stanstead, Liverpool and Southampton.
Other Points of Interest The area has many
restaurants in various price brackets.
Argenton has a swimming pool, tennis courts, a gym and many other sporting facilities which are quite normal in most French towns.
There are bars, a cinemas and discothèque.
Just outside the town is a; riding school, flying club and many fishing lakes. There is also a large lake with sailing, windsurfing and a beach at
Eguzon. Walking and cycling are both popular in the area.
The beautiful world famous village of
Gargilesse is 6kms away. It has associations with George Sand and Frederic Chopin and has exhibitions and entertainments at the Chateau.
General Comments
